Can You Use a Solar Bug Zapper Indoors? A Home Guide
Solar bug zappers are built for the yard, but that doesn't mean they're limited to outdoor use. Thanks to the dual charging design on the Murutoi G8 and G8L, you can also plug the unit in and run it indoors — right in the rooms where you spend your evenings.
How Indoor Use Works
Both the G8 and G8L charge two ways: through the solar panel, or through a DC round-plug connector — not USB-C. When you're indoors and away from direct sunlight, simply plug the unit into a standard wall outlet using the DC cable, and it runs exactly the same way it would outside, minus the solar charging.
If the nearest outlet isn't quite where you want the unit, the included 20ft extension cord gives you the flexibility to set it up on a nightstand or shelf without being limited to wherever the plug happens to be.
Chemical-Free, Indoors or Out
One thing that doesn't change between outdoor and indoor use: there's no spray, no scent, and no chemicals involved. The unit works entirely through UV attraction and an electric grid, so it's just as safe to run in a bedroom or living room as it is on a patio.
Good Spots Around the Home
- Bedroom: Set to Manual Mode for continuous overnight protection.
- Living room: A plugged-in zapper on a shelf works well for evenings at home.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
- Placement away from foot traffic: Since the grid carries a high-voltage charge (2500V) when active, keep it somewhere out of reach of pets and kids — the same precaution you'd take outdoors.
Bottom Line
You don't need direct sun to get a night's worth of bug protection at home. As long as you have a wall outlet nearby — or the extension cord to reach one — your Murutoi zapper works just as well plugged in on a nightstand as it does running on solar power in the yard.
